CHURCH MINISTRIES

All ministries of the Church shall be under Church control and all officers are elected by that ministry, shared with the Church and report regularly to the Church. Each member of a church ministry shall make spiritual growth a priority by being an active participant in the Church Sunday services, Sunday School, Bible Study, and other spiritually uplifting and teaching opportunities.

All ministries shall choose every two years a chairperson or president, vice chairperson or vice president, and a secretary and shall meet regularly.

Deaconess Ministry


The Deaconess Ministry functions as assistants to the Pastor and Deacons in developing the spiritual life of the women and girls of the church for the best possible Christian service. Deaconesses are to cooperate with the Pastor and Deacons in visiting the members, caring for the sick, needy, and distressed and in preparation of communion and female baptismal candidates. Deaconess are appointed by the Pastor. The wife of a Deacon does not automatically become a Deaconess upon her husband’s appointment nor does a Deaconess have to be the wife of a Deacon.

Flower Ministry


The New Hope Flower Club Ministry functions to maintain the floral décor of the church sanctuary being mindful of seasonal arrangements such as Easter and Christmas. The Flower Club Ministry will consist of any dedicated church member who strives to keep the church sanctuary attractive with appropriate floral arrangements. These persons are to be familiar with Christian traditions and combine beauty and practicality to maintain church décor.

Food Pantry Ministry


The food bank functions in a charity capacity on a humanitarian basis providing food and other toiletries to those less fortunate. This is made possible through donations of our Christian friends. This ministry includes church members possessing love for mankind, generosity or leniency and a sincere desire for relief of the needy.

Health and Wellness Ministry

The purpose of this ministry is to serve the Lord by providing health connections to people that meet the spiritual, physical, psychological, and social needs of the congregation and the community. Through God’s love, our faith and actions, we pledge to instill hope to our church and community through education, support and resources which promote health and wellbeing.

Duties:

  • Promote two-way communication between the church community and the Health and Wellness Ministry Team
  • Increase understanding of health and wellbeing by providing educational programs, guest speakers, offering special events and printed materials
  • Improve the health and wellbeing of individuals within the church and community by providing useful resources and connections to services that can help people

 

Hospitality Ministry

The Hospitality Ministry operates for the purpose of preparing and serving all meals for special church programs. The Hospitality Ministry consists of any church members who are given the responsibility of making certain that the church kitchen and dining room is operated in a safe and healthy manner. These members are to be apt to serve, familiar with food services, sensitive to the needs of church patrons, and courteous.

Duties:

  • To prepare and/or designate the preparation of foods to be served.
  • To purchase necessary kitchen provisions.
  • To properly store and clean all utensils and condiments.
  • To be cordial and courteous in service.
  • To wear gloves while serving in uniform.
  • To arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of events not sponsored by the church.
  • To allow proper personnel/volunteers in the kitchen area.
  • To work with other church ministries in order to carry out the church mission and ministries.

 

 

Missionary Ministry

 

The Busy Bee Missionary Ministry is responsible for promoting and encouraging the Church in missionary preparation while channeling mission information and stimulating personal concern for the spread of the Gospel everywhere. The reason the Missionary Ministry exists is to assist people in financial, spiritual, social, and emotional needs whenever possible. Jesus Christ sends all of His people into the world to incarnate His concern for the sick, poor, friendless, oppressed, hungry, suffering, homeless, and those still in bondage to sin and shame. Any church member can be a member of the Missionary Ministry.

On a mission for Jesus Christ, the Missionary Ministry is:

  • To lead youngsters as well as adults to Jesus the Christ whenever the opportunity avails itself.
  • To spread cheer to the sick, shut-ins, and needy through visitations, giving food and fruit baskets, sending cards, etc.
  • To support and attend various conferences of the Women’s Division of Bethany to refresh and gain new ideas.
  • To share the word of our Lord with the monthly distribution within the ministry from the monthly publication “Our Daily Bread.”

 

Music Ministry


The Music Ministry provides Christian music for worship services that produce evangelistic results and bring lost souls into the fold of God. The New Hope Music Ministry ushers God’s people into God’s presence with praise and worship. The ministry consists of musicians and singers who have been called by God to minister in song to the Lord and to the congregation. The choirs set the atmosphere and tone of each of the Sunday morning worship services and any other weekly services throughout the year. It is our commitment to practice and rehearse on a regular basis, so that we can perfect our gifts and play and sing skillfully. Furthermore, we are committed to live Godly lifestyles that bring Glory to God and serve as a positive testimony to those whom we minister. We do not want to merely sing about a Great and Mighty God, but rather be living witnesses and testimonies of God’s goodness and mercy in our own personal lives.

New Members’ Ministry


The New Members’ Orientation Ministry seeks to provide foundational biblical, doctrinal, church structure and staffing information to each new member. This orientation helps the new Christian to identify and apply what it means to be a disciple of Christ while making all persons aware of God through God’s self-disclosure, especially God’s redeeming love as revealed in Jesus Christ as enabled by the Holy Spirit. Supporting and encouraging each new member and helping to integrate them into the total life of the church as guided by the scripture in Matthew 28:16-20.

Nurse’s Ministry

The Nurses Ministry serves on a humanitarian basis to assist the sick and injured, to give necessary first aid, nursing care, general advice on problems of health that will help Christians to understand the relation between spiritual and physical well-being. The Nurses Ministry should consist of any dedicated Christian of the church who is interested in nursing services, professional or non-professional, male or female over the age of fourteen years who has completed a twelve-hour course in Red Cross Nursing, and/or a Red Cross First Aid Course, and a CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Course).


Duties:

  • To be fervent in prayer, respectful, courteous, serious, loving, caring, and desirous of rendering service.
  • To be on time.
  • To render first aid to sick and injured during regular worship services, in church dining areas for safety and at funerals.
  • To dress in uniformity with white uniform dress, white shoes, and laces, white hose, cap (optional), and the units name tag for females and a white male uniform top, white or black trousers with shoes to match, and name tag for males.
  • To attend scheduled meetings for the Nurses’ Ministry.
  • To report to the Pastor and Deacons’ Ministry.
 


Pulpit Ministry


The purpose of the Pulpit Ministry is to provide care and assistance to the Pastor and his family as requested and as necessary, to ease the burden in providing pastoral care to the membership of the New Hope Baptist Church. “We lift up his arms,” make straight the paths that he must tread, lighten the burden of obtaining a livelihood, and ease the Pastor’s mind of many financial obligations that so often confront him. We support the Pastor with prayer, encouraging words, actions, deeds, love, and finances.

Sunday School Ministry

 

The New Hope Sunday School Ministry exists for the purpose of educating all people of any age, seeking knowledge about the Bible. This objective is met by using the instructional materials of R. H. Boyd Publishing to provide weekly lesson plans and lessons, studying and meeting for class and various planned activities.

Duties:

 

 

The Sunday School Superintendent is:

  1. To prepare rooms or areas for class study prior to class
  2. To monitor classroom/areas to familiarize oneself with individual teaching
  3. To preside during the Sunday School
  4. To give a five-minute warning to teachers to allow teachers the opportunity to culminate their lesson.

 

Teacher is:

  1. To explain the specific lesson using the best possible teaching technique (discussion, lecture, visuals, etc.)
  2. To allow an equal opportunity for students to express
  3. To attend and participate in teachers’ worship
  4. To provide an opportunity for religious classroom/area enrichment in the teachings of Jesus’ word.

 

Student is:

  1. To be familiar with lesson prior to
  2. To participate in class
  3. To seek and share knowledge with others to provide a more rewarding learning

 

Trustee Ministry

 

The trustees are to have charge of the church’s property, keep it in repair, and good condition, raise money for the current expenses, and pay out the sum for bills due; all being done under the instruction of the church body which elected them.

The trustees shall be elected, when needed by the church, in regular session or at a meeting called for that purpose. Although the trustees are responsible for the care of the place of worship, they shall have no power to buy, sell, mortgage, lease or transfer any property without a specific vote of the church authorizing such action.

Ushers Ministry

 

The Ushers Ministry functions as the keeper of the doors, attending to the seating of the congregation, and receiving the offering. Ushering is a powerful way of witnessing because ushers are usually the first persons that visitors and members meet so they can help persons experience warm feelings of acceptance or belonging. Ushers are encouraged to develop and display acceptable and appropriate religious and social behaviors, such as self-discipline, alertness, promptness, and courtesy.

Duties:

  • To welcome members, visitors, and friends, and to see that they are comfortably seated.
  • To receive the offering and turn the same over to the Deacons and the financial committee.
  • To assist the Pastor and Church wherever and whenever necessary and to operate under the supervision of the Pastor and Deacons.
  • To train and be trained in the effective and efficient execution of usher protocol.
  • To possess a cheerful, knowledgeable, resourceful, and spirit-filled attitude.
  • To arrive at church 15 minutes prior to regular service and one hour before a funeral.
  • To attend regular meetings.

 

Women’s Ministry

 

The Women’s Ministry exists to provide meaningful spiritual growth for all women in the congregation and community, as well as to develop and organize a ministry that speaks to the needs, issues, and concerns of women at various stages in their lives. This ministry also aims to ensure fellowship among these women based on the scriptural text in Ephesians 4.

Youth & Young Adult Ministry

 
 

The Youth & Young Adult Ministry should promote spiritual, physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth of youth through planned, supervised group fellowship activities at church and in the community. Each child should be led to a personal knowledge and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior while being trained in ways prescribed by God that they may serve Him. The Youth and Young Adult Ministry membership should consist of all New Hope Baptist Church youth between the ages of two and seventeen and young adults ages eighteen and forty working with adult advisors who coordinate meaningful, age-appropriate experiences.

Duties:

  • To participate in various aspects of the church including youth choir, ushers, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Bible Study, worship,fellowship, and

  • To develop nurturing relationships with members of God’s family—adults and peers at church—while worshiping and praising God!
